What is it?
Ammonium hexachloroiridate (IV) is a metal primarily used as a marker for contact allergy to iridium.

How can I avoid it?
Skin contact with ammonium hexachloroiridate (IV) is required for it to cause a rash. Discontinuation of exposure to products containing ammonium hexachloroiridate (IV) should result in improvement and/or resolution of your dermatitis. At work, request a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to help identify potential sources of exposure.

Uses:
  • Photographic emulsions
  • Catalytic composites
  • Precursor material in electronic components, especially in nanotechnology
Potential cross-reacting substances:
  • Other forms of iridium
